The objective of the Burlingame Historical Preservation Society, Inc. will be to preserve and maintain the Burlingame area history, oral and written, buildings, Santa Fe Avenue, historical sites and artifacts, and make it available to the public to further their education and knowledge of the Burlingame community and its history. The Organization The Burlingame Historical Preservation Society was organized in April of 2001. A seven member board was selected. The goal of this board was to raise the funds to purchase the old Schuyler school building and reopen it as a community museum.. This was soon achieved and on October 1, 2001 ownership of the property was acquired by BHPS. The next goal was to open the museum on the 100th anniversary year of the school, 2002. The grand opening of the Burlingame Schuyler Museum was held June 22, 2002. The organization is governed by a seven member board of directors elected by the membership. Each board position has a term of two years. The election of board members is held at the annual meeting in December of each year. Any other business is also conducted at the annual meeting. The board of directors meetings are at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month in the research room at the museum. | |
