     Come Join in the Fun!

The Burlingame Historical Preservation Society has many unique demonstrations and activities planned for their two day event honoring Kansas Day 2012.

Friday, January 27th is geared toward children as the local Pre-K through 6th grade students are invited to the museum for many "hands on" demonstrations of pioneer kids games and toys.  There will also be an “Abe Lincoln” presentation by Loren Rahzloff.

On Saturday, January 28th, in addition to pioneer games and toys, BHPS will host an 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. luncheon in the Schuyler Community Center of  “Ham & Beans” or, if preferred, Vegetable Soup.  Adults, $6, under 5, $3.

The Burlingame Schuyler Museum is located at 117 S. Dacotah, Burlingame, and is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.  The Schuyler Community Center is just west of the museum at 218 W. Fremont.

As we move to celebrate the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, most Americans will not think of the events in Kansas…unless, of course, you’re IN Kansas. Yet Kansas’ birthday coincides with the Civil War. Join us for a critical re-examination on how the Civil War affected the state of Kansas and why the Kansas struggles have been largely ignored in American history. Presented by Brian Craig Miller of the Kansas Humanities Council Speakers Bureau.

Everyone is welcome to attend any or all of this celebration.  Other than the luncheon, this event is free.

NOTICE

During inclement weather the museum is sometimes closed for the safety of our visitors and our hosts.

If you plan to visit and the weather is bad, you may wish to call ahead to confirm the museum is open.
